More people are realizing how important incorporating fitness into their lifestyle is. While most of the trends this year aren’t new concepts, they are definitely making their comeback. Here are the training and technology trends that are about to make your 2016 workouts a whole lot better.
Body Weight Training will get you to use your own body weight to train and build muscles. Push-ups and pull-ups are classic body weight training exercises. The great thing about these exercises is that they can be done pretty much anywhere, it’s great for beginners and no equipment is needed.
High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a type of exercise that involves short bursts of high-intensity exercise followed by a short period of rest or recovery. These exercises generally take around 30 minutes to perform and can be done at home. This makes it easy to schedule time to exercise every day.
Strength Training has been around for a while and still remains very popular in the health and fitness industry. These exercises use weighted resistance (free weights or weight machines) to build muscle strength. If you’re wanting something more than the traditional barbell option, pick up a kettlebell instead.
Obstacle Courses like the Spartan Race, Tough Mudder and Rugged Maniac have exploded in popularity. They combine fitness with a challenging experience that you can’t find in any gym. Because of their popularity, new obstacle courses and themed runs are popping up all over the place.
Streaming Fitness and Workout Videos. Increasingly demanding schedules and little time to make it to the gym makes streaming fitness videos more popular. You can work out in the comfort of your home instead of finding time in your day to squeeze in a gym session.
Online Personal Training and Group Training are where it’s at in 2016. Gone are the days where you had to go to the gym to meet your trainer. More and more people are opting for an online approach. While you still can seek assistance from an in-person coach, you can get just about everything from a personal trainer online. The only setback is less hands-on technique coaching.
Gadgets & Equipment:
Wearable technology is something we are sure you have already heard of. The benefits of fitness trackers, smartwatches and heart rate monitors are that they keep track of your valuable fitness data for you. They record your total calories burned, distance, heart rate and even sleep patterns so you don’t have to.
Food Tracking Apps make it easy to be more conscientious about how you’re fueling your body. Some examples of these digital food journals include MyFitnessPal, LoseIt and Fat Secret. Many of these debuted last year, but they are rising in popularity this year.
Flexibility and Mobility Rollers are the key to boosting muscle size, strength, and flexibility. These have been around for a while, but more and more fitness professionals are realizing the importance of their use. Increasing your soft tissue quality will increase your overall range of movement and performance.
