Move over Jennifer Lawrence and make room for a flock of fresh new Hollywood faces hitting the big screen in 2014. Here’s a few of the most exciting rising stars who are poised to join the Hollywood galaxy this year.
Ansel Elgort might not be a name you recognize now, but just wait until March when the movie adaptation of the popular young-adult novel, “Divergent,” hits theaters. And with the June release of the cancer love story “The Fault in Our Stars,” the 19-year-old Elgort is surely headed for teen heartthrob territory.
Theo James is not a complete newcomer to Hollywood, as you may recognize him for his earlier work in “Underworld: Awakening.” But 2014 is sure to be the year the rest of the world takes note of James. He joins fellow rising star Ansel Elgort in “Divergent,” playing up the romance with another Hollywood up-and-comer Shailene Woodley as the character Four.
As the granddaughter of Francis Ford Coppola and niece to Sofia Coppola, Gia Coppola comes from a lineage of filmmakers. Gia Coppola is expected to live up to her family’s reputation with the spring release of “Palo Alto,” a collaborative effort between Coppola and Hollywood well-known, James Franco. “Palo Alto” is set to showcase Coppola’s writing and directing talents supported by an impressive cast including James Franco and Emma Roberts.
Diego Boneta has been in the entertainment business since the age of 12, when he convinced his parents to allow him to audition for a children’s singing show in Mexico. Boneta has worked on telenovelas and made his American television debut on “90210” and “Pretty Little Liars.” His film debut came in “Rock of Ages” alongside Tom Cruise and Julianne Hough. Though Boneta has been in the entertainment industry for years, 2014 may be his biggest year yet as he is appearing in the sports biopic “Pele,” psychological thriller “The Dead Men,” and “Eden,” a re-imagining of “Lord of the Flies.”
Joel Kinnamen is another actor who some already know for his work in television, but 2014 is sure to be a big year for him as he stars in the leading role of big budget blockbuster, “RoboCop.” He’ll also appear in the amped-up reboot of the 80s classic alongside Gary Oldmand, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish and Michale Keaton. Kinnamen also is expected to make waves this year beyond the blockbuster action genre as he is slated to star in Terrence Malick’s “Knight of Cups.”
Natalie Dormer has been noticed for her work as Anne Boleyn in “The Tudors” and a Margaery Tyrell on “Game of Thrones” and 2014 should continue to see her star rise. She is set to play Cressida in the first installment of the two-part “Hunger Games” finale and will reprise her role in 2015 for the second and final part of the “Hunger Games” saga.
It’s only the beginning of the year and there’s already much to look forward to and new stars to keep an eye out for! Who are the rising stars you are looking to see more of this year?
